 guiding principles

“Many people have been shaken by the financial and economic crisis, and are having doubts about whether the social market economy works. Yet without trust an economy that is built on a basic social consensus cannot thrive.

Business people, who are the pillars of the social market economy, want to point the way forward. This is why the plenary meeting of the Coblenz Chamber of Industry and Commerce [IHK] expressly supports the guiding principle of the “honest businessman”

characterised by high ethical principles, a sense of responsibility, and sustainable action based on the long term perspective in the broader social context. For over 50 years the Chambers of Industry and Commerce have been obliged by law “to work to preserve the decency and good morals of the honest businessman”.

Wilhelm Braun Erben GmbH & Co. KG in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler has also signed up to the “honest businessman principle”, thereby publicly pointing the way forward

for the company, for the region and for the business community in Germany.”
